Paul Williams lives at Ltyentye Apurte community (Santa Teresa) and enjoys close proximity to his traditional lands in the Simpson Desert and as a senior traditional owner he represents the Ltyentye Apurte community (Santa Teresa) on several levels. His paintings are about the eastern Simpson Desert, which is on the edge of his family's traditional country. These paintings show many aspects of the desert which Paul loves; the light radiating from it, the special places and the particular land forms and their changes. Paul is a talented artist and crafts person, with skills including carving, mechanics, and building. His painting is driven by the desire to celebrate his connection to country and fits into a cyclic approach to changes in season and community events.
