Biography

Josette is one of the original artists who has worked in the art centre since it was built in 1987. She has been an influential designer in the development of the Keringke style; her painting resonates with color from the country here, and her designs are intricate and careful.

Almost ritualistic in approach to painting Josette says " I enjoy being involved with the patterns as they emerge on the surface. I like painting carefully and putting balanced shapes into the picture." Josette is able to create surfaces which move across levels of intricacy and often her works emerge before the viewer as one sees deeper into the painting.
